Fly!

I began as always, with a bare canvas and intention. The gold leaf came first each one lowered into place with slow, steady breaths. Every touch had to be gentle.

Days earlier, in the still heart of the forest I had met the gaze of a great spotted woodpecker. It lingered longer than I expected, drumming its message into the bark. In that quiet moment it felt like a reminder: even when the path ahead is uncertain, there’s a rhythm inside you that knows the way.

Back in my artstudio, this memory stayed with me. The bird’s persistence and precision mirrored for me the act of painting itself; patience, focus, and trust in each brush stroke. The gold became not just a backdrop, but a symbol of the light that guides us when others may not understand the road we’ve chosen.
